Supporting Multiple Fire Safety Accreditation Schemes

While BAFE is a benchmark for fire safety, PocketSurvey is equally adaptable to other major third-party certification schemes. Whether you are auditing for the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), maintaining FIRAS standards for passive fire protection, or meeting NSI requirements, our software ensures your data collection is rigorous, consistent, and compliant across the board.

BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment.)

This is the independent registration body for third-party certified fire safety organisations. It develops schemes to help companies demonstrate their competency in areas such as fire detection, maintenance, and risk assessment.

LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board)

The LPCB sets strict standards for fire and security products and services. PocketSurvey helps you meet these by providing customizable checklists that align with the specific "Red Book" requirements for sprinkler systems and fire detection equipment.

FIRAS (Warringtonfire)

FIRAS is crucial for installers of passive fire protection (like fire doors and stopping). You can use our specific "Fire Door" and "Compartmentation" modules to capture the detailed photographic evidence and installation data required for FIRAS certification.

NSI (National Security Inspectorate)

For companies providing fire detection and alarm systems, NSI Gold and Silver are key standards. Our software supports the full audit trail required by NSI, from the initial design survey through to commissioning and handover documentation.

Using PocketSurvey Features to Meet Accreditation Standards

Capturing Client and Responsible Person Details

To meet administrative standards regarding building responsibility, utilise the "Client Details" screen at the start of the survey and the "Responsible Person" field located within the Fire Risk Summary.

Logging Competent Persons and Interviews

Ensure all personnel involved in the audit are traceable. Use the "Inspection Notes" section to list the Competent Person (expert helper) and any staff members interviewed during the assessment.

Ensuring Report Validation and Referencing

To satisfy quality assurance requirements, ensure the "Report Reference" field is completed on the building screen. Additionally, log the final approver using the dedicated "Quality Checker" facility.

Assessing Specific Fire Hazards

To demonstrate a comprehensive hazard check, enable and populate the specific sub-sections under "FIRE HAZARDS". This includes dedicated screens for "Portable Heaters", "Cooking", "Lightning", "Outside Contractors" (Hot Works), and "Electrical Ignition Sources".

Verifying Fire Protection Equipment

Meet equipment auditing standards by using the "FIRE PROTECTION MEASURES" menu. Specific modules are available to check "Fire Safety Signs", "Manual Fire Extinguishing Appliances", and "Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems" (Sprinklers/Mist).

Auditing Management Procedures and Training

To prove compliance with management obligations, use the "MANAGEMENT" section. This allows you to specifically record details regarding "Procedures and Arrangements", "Training and Drills", and maintenance "Records" (Logbooks).

Recording Testing and Maintenance

Ensure mechanical and engineering systems are accounted for by using the "MANAGEMENT > TESTING AND MAINTENANCE" section. This is the designated area for checking dry risers, lifts, and rising mains.
